“Bacon and not drawing” is the exhibition by Francis Bacon which will officially open July 15th, 2016 in Portopiccolo Sistiana to make your experience in this magnificent destination increasingly exclusive.
A preview is scheduled for the press and the guests of the Woland Art Club on Saturday, July 9th.
Francis Bacon – Irish painter (Dublin 1909 – Madrid 1992) – he gradually abandoned the job of interior decorator, which began in London, to develop his love for painting. He got to the international panorama after World War II, maintaining a secluded position in his research characterized by the “distortion, fragmentation, isolation image”. These are the pictorial means which, operating on various sources (poetry, drama, paintings by other authors, photography) create anguished, aggressive and violent presences.
The book Works on Paper recently presented in London by Edward Lucie-Smith, curator of the exhibition at the Woland Art Club contains, in the whole selection of artworks of the controversial Italian period, the cycle of “crucifixions” featuring five artworks which are the coreof the exhibition “Bacon and not drawing”.
During the inauguration of the exhibition, to be held July 15th, Edward Lucie-Smith will be joined by Paul Carter Robinson, editor of the well-known London magazine: Artlyst.

The artworks

It is seven works on paper – from The Francis Bacon Collection of the drawings donated to Cristiano Lovatelli Ravarino, of which Umberto Guerini stands as prosecutor, member of the Woland Art Club – selected by the London critic Edward Lucie-Smith, who has certified its authenticity.
